Biography

Born 1948, I grew up in Short Hills, NJ and graduated from Skidmore College in 1970 with a B.S. in Fine Arts. Since then I have lived in the Boston area. After working for 15 years as a graphic designer, I turned to professional quiltmaking, drawn by its expressiveness and potential as a new art form.

To date I have made 72 quilts, exhibited in 5 solo shows and more than 80 juried and invitational exhibits. (Exhibits include Quilt National '89 and '93, Visions '90 and '96, and American Quilter's Society 13 times). My work has been published in over 50 catalogs, magazines and books (notably America's Quilts in '91 and Fiberarts Design Books in '91, '95, and '99). My quilts are in many public, private and corporate collections, including the Museum of the American Quilters' Society, Cambridge Savings Bank (3 locations), and NYNEX (Middleton, MA).

In 1995 I was awarded a regional grant in crafts from the National Endowment for the Arts. With this grant I was able to create a wonderful attic studio.

I also teach, lecture and write about my work. Someday, I want to write a book.
